MacBook Air May Get Backlit Keyboard [Coming On The Heels Of Earlier Reports, MacBook Air Models May See Familiar New Feature]

We’ve been hearing bounty of stirrings of late about MacBook Air models; our own Chris Smith dropped the dime on some new models of MacBook Air just a few hours ago. But one thing that slipped out in addition between there and here is that this time, the backlit keyboard may be coming back to Mac in the MacBook Air.

We’ve heard previously about backlit keyboards possibly coming to the iMac, joining the MacBook Pro as boasting the feature. But now we’re hearing that it may also land on the MacBook Air, which is a little surprising.
The word comes out of the always-popular “sources at Apple”, who, while detailing the list of other important functions the MacBook Air lineup might be bringing along for the ride like Thunderbolt ports, Sandy Bridge processors, and maybe even 400 Mbps flash memory, dropped in a bit about backlit keyboards.
The key point here is that this is not the first time we’ve heard about the backlighting coming back. It’s one thing to hear about somewhat for the first time, but when you hear something that confirms what you heard the first time, well, every successive confirmation makes it steadily less likely to be wrong, and requires the salt you need to take with the rumor in question to be lessened in relation.
And even if the idea proves true, is it necessarily a good one? I personally like the idea, myself, as I do a lot of work on laptops and take said work around with me. So being able to work as normal even in low-light conditions is definitely appealing, as long as it doesn’t cut the battery life too hard.
But what do you guys think? Do you like the thought of a backlit keyboard? Or does it just seem like an unnecessary waste of space and battery power to you? Either way, we want to hear from you, so hit the comments section and tell us what you think!
